International Women's Day - Celebrating Women in Leadership - 14th March 2024

As part of this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations, the African Women Studies Centre and the WEE Hub, in collaboration with the UoN Faculty of Law, organized an event dubbed ‘Celebrating Women in Leadership.’ It took place at the UoN Main Campus on March 14th, 2024.

This event was aimed at honoring and celebrating women who have broken barriers and earned their place in traditionally male-dominated spaces.

It featured two keynote addresses delivered by: Hon. Nancy Gathungu, the Auditor General of the Republic of Kenya, and Ms. Faith Odhiambo, the incoming president of the Law Society of Kenya.

Distinguished guests, including the University of Nairobi's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama, Prof. Wanjiku Kabira, the Director of AWSRC and WEE Hub Leader, and Prof. Amb. Maria Nzomo, graced the occasion.

Panel discussions during the event delved into topics such as Women in Politics, Women in Academia, and Women in Economics & Entrepreneurship.

The event was covered by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and aired in both English and Kiswahili
