AWSC and Co-Impact Workshop - 17th -18th Feb, 2025

The African Women's Studies Center (AWSC) concluded a two-day workshop focused on strengthening its capacity to implement the Women in Leadership project, an initiative under the Co-impact. This project, currently in its design phase, aims to increase women's representation in leadership positions within the University of Nairobi's Department of Economics.

The workshop is structured around a modular approach, guiding participants through a systematic process of project development:

  • Module 1: Problem Identification: Participants have identified the core problem as the current underrepresentation of women in leadership roles within the Department of Economics.
  • Module 2: Envisioning the Future: This module encourages participants to envision the desired future state of the Department of Economics after successful project implementation. Participants are collaboratively developing a "dream" scenario, outlining the positive changes and increased representation they hope to achieve. This vision will serve as a guide for the project's direction.
  • Module 3: Strategic Planning: Building upon the envisioned future, this module focuses on identifying the specific strategies required to realize the project's goals. Participants are working together to develop a concrete action plan, outlining the steps needed to bridge the gap between the current situation and the desired future state.
  • Module 4: Capacity Assessment: The final module assesses the AWSC's current capacity to effectively implement the project. This critical evaluation will determine the resources, skills, and support needed to ensure successful execution, should funding be secured.
