The WEE Hub evaluates the implementation of laws and its provisions in terms of how it affects women working in formal and informal employment and in the gig economy. A gig economy is one in which organizations hire independent workers for short-term commitments. In partnership with relevant organizations the WEE Hub will evaluate the effect of informal employment coupled with weak social protection on decent domestic work. The project will further evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Government of Kenya’s responses to it on women’s employment and entrepreneurship. Further, it will also evaluate laws, policies, regulations and implementation frameworks related to employment and their capacity to facilitate women’s participation in employment. The evidence generated will be shared with policy makers and other stakeholders to ensure women participation in employment.
