Launch of Lobur Women's Group Posho Mill
The Lobur Women’s Group Posho Mill was officially launched on 20th April 2023 in Lobur, Turkana County.
This was the culmination of the group’s long and dedicated journey which began when representatives underwent a 5-day training program under the WEE Hub’s Business Incubation program in November 2022.
The training on Best Practices in Grain Processing was conducted by the Hub in collaboration with the Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering at the UoN Kabete campus.
Members were equipped with specific skills in grain conveyance, milling, drying, and packaging as well as pest control techniques.
The posho mill is a significant development in the region as it will meet the demand for a reliable source of processed grains in the community. It is also a testament to the effectiveness of the Hub’s training programs towards economic empowerment of women and the promotion of women-led businesses in Kenya.
