Launch of Technology Training on Dairy Value Addition in Kajiado County
The WEE Hub has launched the Technology Training on Dairy Value Addition to be conducted on members of the Maasai Women Dairy Cooperative in Kajiado County.
The program, which is in collaboration with Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE), will equip trainees with skills to develop 4 value-added products of their choice.
Milk is one of the county’s most abundant products which often goes to waste during glut seasons, and is generally sold to locals at very low prices. With skills in value addition, members can reduce wastage and increase their incomes through the sale of value-added dairy products.
This cooperative is an umbrella group that was established in 2022 with only 3 member groups but has since grown to 7 major groups with more than 20 subgroups.
The launch ceremony was graced by Kajiado County women representative Leah Sankaire, Cooperative patron Mrs. Hellen Nkaissery as well as representatives from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund and Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE).
