The University of Nairobi WEE Hub in collaboration with Boston University held a workshop today at the UoN main campus, Mahatma Gandhi Graduate Library Boardroom.
The workshop discussing the New Institutional Economics in Africa was aimed at providing an opportunity for African scholars and policymakers to examine how new insights from economics - termed ‘new institutional economics’ can develop new business models and government policies for African financial inclusion, economic development, and shifts to greener societies.
Participants who also included researchers, private sector software developers, policy makers and members of the Academia had the opportunity to ;
1. Learn about the fundamental principles of new institutional economics.
2. Began to explore components of institutional economics that might help solve real-world challenges facing Africa.
3. Identified potential partners and real-world projects which can make use of components of engineering economics.
