Prof. Siphila Wanjiku Mumenya takes over as Dean, Faculty of Engineering - 20th July 2024
We are thrilled to announce the historic appointment of Prof. Siphila Wanjiku Mumenya as the new Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nairobi. Elected in July 2024, Prof. Mumenya will serve a three-year term, making history as the first female Dean of the Faculty.
A formal handover ceremony took place on Thursday, July 18, 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Faculty of Engineering. Under Prof. Mumenya’s leadership, we are confident that the Faculty will continue to excel in engineering education, innovation, and research, advancing its mission of developing knowledge and manpower towards Kenya's industrialization.
Prof. Mumenya's mentorship has been a beacon of inspiration for many female engineering students, significantly boosting their participation in engineering and science careers both nationally and internationally. Her election as Dean not only represents a personal achievement but also underscores the vital role of women in leadership and STEM fields.
