Researchers' Workshop with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Representative Diva Dhar

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Hub on Wednesday 5th April hosted a workshop that showcased the findings and impacts of its research projects. It was attended by Diva Dhar who represented the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the donor funder supporting the program.

Projects highlighted included, Evaluating the Effectiveness of Business Incubation on Women's Enterprises for upscaling; Analytical Study of Women in the Labor Force; Care Economy and Women's Work and Women's Movement; Self-Mobilization for Women's Economic Empowerment, and Policy Advocacy and Dissemination.

Ms. Dhar came bearing good news that BMGF has set up an office in Nairobi, a move expected to ease and speed up communications between the foundation and supported programs like the WEE Hub. She also expressed her excitement to hear details of WEE Hub projects she has only read on paper.

The workshop which was moderated by Prof. Margaret Kobia took place at UoN Main Campus, where the team also paid a courtesy call to Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama. Overall, the meeting was a great opportunity to learn about the progress made and celebrate the achievements of the WEE Hub.
