The WEE hub research team has been working closely with the State Department for Social Protection to enhance the National Social Protection Law and is making good progress. Today the team engaged key stakeholders in the review of the Zero Draft Bill at the Lake Naivasha Resort. 

The research by the WEE Hub pointed out gaps and made recommendations that shaped the process of the development of this very important law. One highlight is the need to consider the Kenyan context and realities even as benchmarking takes place. The research also underscores the need to expand the scope and focus on the informal sector which is dominated by women and people living with disabilities, and generally provides a gender lens to the process.
