Veronica's Story: How the Busia Childcare Center is Driving Women's Economic Empowerment - 4th July 2024
Veronica, a dedicated fish trader from Busia, now enjoys access to affordable childcare services provided by the Busia Childcare Center, an initiative of the WEE Hub in collaboration with CCGD. Previously, Veronica faced the challenge of bringing her young child to the market daily due to a lack of childcare options. This situation made it difficult for her to concentrate on her business, as she was constantly worried about her child's safety.
With the establishment of the childcare center, Veronica can now leave her child in a safe and nurturing environment every day. This has allowed her to focus fully on her business, starting her workdays early and dedicating her attention to her trade. As a result, Veronica's business has experienced significant growth, showcasing the positive impact of accessible childcare on women's economic empowerment, "Access to affordable childcare was the difference between surviving and thriving as a growing entrepreneur–making all the difference for her and her family."
