A WEE Hub team visited the Ntharene Market Self Help group in Tharaka Nithi County on January 12^th 2024. This women’s group is a beneficiary of technology training in banana value addition facilitated by the Kenya Industrial Estates, under the WEE Hub's Women in Business Incubation Project. Members have been diligently working towards transforming their newfound knowledge into a flourishing business venture.

The purpose of the visit was firstly, to assess the progress made by the group since their training in May 2023, and second, to gain insights into the challenges they encounter in venturing into the promising market for their unique banana-based products.

Since the training, the Ntharene Market Self Help Group has made commendable strides, initiating small-scale production of their flagship product- banana crisps.

Their ambition, however, extends beyond crisps as they envision venturing into the production and widespread sale of banana cookies and banana fibers.

This engagement with the group served as an opportunity for WEE Hub leader Prof. Wanjiku Kabira and the team to witness the tangible outcomes of the training.
