EFFECTS OF ACCESSING CHILDCARE SERVICES ON WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
The University of Nairobi, African Women Studies Centre hosted a high-level consultation with women in leadership from both public and private sectors in Kenya at the Swiss-Belinn Hotel on October 2, 2024. This event took place against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to address the persistent gender gap in leadership roles within the field of economics. Despite significant strides toward inclusivity, women remain underrepresented in positions of influence and authority.
On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, the Women's Business Incubation Program celebrated a significant milestone with a graduation ceremony for individual women entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the program. This entrepreneurship training, implemented by Technoserve in partnership with the WEE Hub, has been running for three years and has equipped these entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to grow their businesses.
A new Childcare Center in Machakos County which is a collaborative initiative between the WEE Hub and the County Government of Machakos is now complete and ready for use. This centre represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to support women by providing essential childcare services, enabling them to pursue economic opportunities with peace of mind.
